QU TO HOST DEBATE: IS RELIGION ESSENTIAL FOR THE COMMON GOOD?
Quincy University’s School of Humanities will host a debate on the topic “Is Religion Essential for the Common Good?” on March 25 at 6:30 p.m. in MacHugh Theatre in Francis Hall on QU’s main campus, 1800 College Avenue.
The debate will feature Jonathan Miles, PhD, professor of philosophy, and Padraic Rohan, assistant professor of history, arguing in favor, and Neil Wright, PhD, associate professor of political science, and J. Matthew Ward, PhD, assistant professor of history, arguing in opposition.
Each presenter will share their opinion on the topic and have a chance to respond to one another, and then the attendees will be invited to engage in a group discussion.
“More than ever, our society suffers from a lack of civil debate,” said Rohan. “This event is intended to bring the QU community and the public together in constructive dialogue on how best to understand and strive for the common good.”
